About the Annual Seder for Seniors
Each year, Golden Slipper Club & Charities, in partnership with the Passover League of Golden Slipper, hosts a community-wide Passover Seder for more than 400 seniors and others who otherwise would have no place to go to honor the holiday. They get to enjoy an evening of friendship, entertainment and a delicious traditional Seder dinner.
A convoy of buses and vans brings our guests from throughout the region for one of the biggest Seders in the Philadelphia area. Many Golden Slipper Club members, including members of the Seder Committee, participate in this hands-on evening.
From greeting the buses, ushering our guests to their seats, helping them return home, and in myriad other ways throughout the evening, the annual Seder allows the Club and particularly our committee members to fulfill a mitzvah that connects us with important Jewish traditions. To see our elders come together in community, to carry out the important cultural rituals of Passover, and to participate in this special evening at Keneseth Israel Synagogue is a heartwarming and transformative experience.
